Experimenting in making videos and filmmaking is a recent endeavor. I have created two Public Service Announcements (PSAs) for a local drug take back program that have been shared on their Facebook page. I've also practiced filming myself and editing a video to make a bid to speak in front of the U.S. House of Representatives Agriculture Committe this coming April. I've learned that filmmaking is 75% planning and 25% shooting or filming; not what I was expecting when I started. But, I like to see the results when my plan comes together. I have even created a curriculum to share with some young filmmakers in my local 4-H program to nurture interest in a topic I have enjoyed.
This is a short PSA that addresses one of the particular challenges, i.e., not dumping or throwing away old pills, that the Tri-County Health department wanted to highlight in their Facebook video post for their drug take back program.
I created two videos for the Tri-County Health department to highlight their drug take back program. My brother, cousin and grandfather were the actors. Let's just say there is a reason they were free.
The National 4-H program offers an opportunity for teen members to submit an application and video to make a bid for speaking in front of the U.S. House of Representatives Agriculture Committee. I was selected based on my video submission and will be speaking this coming April.
Below is the course outline for a 3-part filmmaking workshop series I created for my local 4-H program to help first and second year filmmaking participants learn the basics.
